Tina St. Claire

Tina St. Claire, a self-taught artist, left an indelible mark across Los Angeles, adorning abandoned structures and graffiti-laden spaces with her unique creations. Her artistic journey included exhibitions in over 100 galleries across the United States, earning notable recognition, including a feature in Juxtapoz magazine in 2012.

Collaborating frequently with her partner Dereck Seltzer, St. Claire's art reflected a street art ethos, influenced by techniques like wheat pasting and murals. Her distinctive style often depicted the female form, enhanced by ethereal motifs such as crystals, skulls, and enigmatic, eyeless faces.

Although primarily known as an illustrator, St. Claire's artistic repertoire spanned various disciplines, from full-scale paintings to silk screen prints, showcasing a diverse range of mediums. Her works, characterized by a juxtaposition of feminine hues with striking imagery of skulls, animals, and mystical symbols, held profound personal significance.

TMRWLND, a hardcover book and compendium of zines by St. Claire and Seltzer, emerged in 2013 as a testament to their creative collaboration. Evolving from a zine project into a full-fledged creative studio, TMRWLND highlighted the duo's distinct artistic styles, employing techniques like inking, drawing, silkscreen printing, and hand painting.

The artwork within TMRWLND, both in zine and book form, beautifully showcases the complementary relationship between St. Claire's and Dereck Seltzer's styles, curated to represent their individual artistic visions.

Tragically, Tina St. Claire's artistic journey was cut short by Glioblastoma Multiforme grade 4, leading to her passing on March 9, 2016, in Los Angeles. In remembrance, her fiancé Dereck Seltzer curated a memorial exhibit titled "Eternal," featuring her final works at the Surf Club Gallery in Hollywood in April 2016, serving as a poignant tribute presented by The Artillerist.
